!!!Klahr, Alfred

b. Vienna, Sept. 16, 1904, 
d. Warsaw (Poland), July 1944 (shot), journalist, important theorist 
of the Austrian Communist Party KPOe. Studied political economy and 
political science, member of the central committee of the illegal 
Austrian Communist Party. One of the first advocates of the concept of 
an "Austrian nation" (1937). Fled from the National Socialists to 
various European countries, was arrested and sent to Auschwitz 
concentration camp in 1942, from which he escaped in June 1944. 
Shortly thereafter K. was shot by the SS in Warsaw.
