b.  1903 Stauding (Studenka, Czech Republic), June 17, 1903, 
d. Salzburg, Oct. 22, 1985, electrical engineer. Studied at Vienna 
University of Technology, the worked for various companies in the USA 
and Germany, from 1945 head of the testing institute of the Austrian 
Federal Railways at Zirl, Tirol, 1950-73 Professor of Fundamental and 
Theoretical Electrical Engineering  in Graz, 1963-77 head of the 
Institute of Low Temperatur Research. A pioneer of high performance 
power transmission with superconductor cables, he tested a prototype 
at the Arnstein power station in Styria in 1979.
