!!!Klein-Mariazell

Klein-Mariazell, Lower Austria, village in the district of Baden, alt. 
432 m, pilgrimage place in the Klosterbach valley, in the 
southern Vienna Woods; cadastral district of the market town of  
Altenmarkt an der Triesting. Former collegiate church, now parish 
church of the Assumption, Romanesque basilica (3-aisled, transept with 
regular crossing) with Romanesque recessed portals from 1256; between 
1752 and 1782 remodelled in Late Baroque style: remarkable Baroque 
high altar (from around 1760), frescoes by J. Bergl; next to the 
church is the former Benedictine monastery, now Baroque, but with some 
medieval parts around the late Romanesque cloister; complete 
restoration of church and monastery concluded in 1999.
