b. Vienna, March 7, 1928, electrical engineer. Studied power 
engineering at Vienna University of Technology in 1946-51 and 
habilitated in 1966 in the field of "Transition Processes in 
Electrical Machines". Worked for electrical engineering companies in 
Austria and Germany from 1951 to 1970, 1970-73 Professor and Head of 
the Institute for Electrical Machinery, University of Stuttgart, 
Germany, 1973-96 Professor for Electrical Machinery at Vienna 
University of Technology.
