Klingenbach, Burgenland, municipality in the district of 
Eisenstadt-Umgebung, alt. 233 m, pop. 1,130, area 4.82 km%%sup 2/%, 
situated near the Hungarian border on the road to Sopron (Hungary). - 
Customs office, branch of customs police; assembly of electronic 
measuring instrument, forwarding agency. After destruction by the 
Turks (1529) Klingenbach was settled by Croats; parish church (first 
documented mention 1276), reconstructed at the end of the 17%%sup th/% 
 century; new part built in 1975, houses old statue of the Virgin Mary 
(from 1730).
