b. Ludwigsburg Palace near Greifswald (Germany), Aug. 31, 1778, 
d. Vienna, April 4, 1835, author, educator and painter. Came to Vienna 
in 1811, was converted to Catholicism under the influence of C. M.  
Hofbauer. 1818-1834 headmaster of an educational institution he had 
founded, contributed to the "Oesterreichischer Beobachter" ("Austrian 
Observer"); 1818-1821 publisher of the "Sonntagsblatt fuer die Jugend" 
("Sunday Paper for Young People"). Painted water colours and in oil.
