b. Vienna, Feb. 2, 1929, singer (tenor), Kammersaenger. From 1949 at 
the Vienna State Opera (also at its reopening 1955), from 1955 
engagements also at the Salzburg Festival, in Bayreuth and at La Scala 
in Milan. Especially well-known for his Mozart roles (e.g. Tamino in 
"Der Zauberfloete").
