Knaus, Hermann, b. St. Veit an der Glan (Carinthia), Oct. 19, 1892,
d. Vienna, Aug. 22, 1970, gynaecologist, originally surgeon. 1923-1934
at the University Hospital of Graz, 1950 Head of Gynaecology at the
Hospital in Lainz, Vienna; together with the Japanese doctor Ogino
established a theory on the periods of female fertility
("Knaus´sches Konzeptionsoptimum") and on contraception.
