Knesl, Hans, b. Bad Pirawarth (Lower Austria), Nov. 9, 1905,
d. Vienna, July 4, 1971, sculptor. First trained as a mason, then
studied under H. Bitterlich at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts.
1951-1971 Head of the Master Class for Sculpture at the Vienna Academy
of Applied Arts. combined figurative and abstract elements in his
sculptures and reliefs. Since 1975, K. Open air-Museum and
Documentation Centre in Bad Pirawarth.
