Kniepert, Erni, b. Reichenau an der Rax (Lower Austria.), Oct. 3, 1911, 
d. Vienna, March 5, 1990, costume designer: 1934 first designed for 
the dancers of G. Krauss und H. Pfundmayr, from 1939 also for film 
productions. From 1941 worked for the Vienna Burgtheater, from 1944 
for the Salzburg Festival and from 1945 for the Vienna Volksoper. She 
was both an imaginative and skilled designer.

!Works
Costume designs e.g. for "Fidelio" at the reopening of the 
Vienna State Opera (1955) und for the "Rosenkavalier" at the 
inauguration of the new Salzburg Festspielhaus (1960); Film costumes 
in Vienna ("Unsterblicher Walzer", 1939; "Wen die Goetter lieben", 
1942) and Hollywood (Musical "The Wizard of Oz").
