Right of Association, democratic right guaranteed by the legal system 
allowing employers and employees to form voluntary associations in 
order to promote and protect the professional interests of the 
members. The right of association is protected in the Austrian 
constitution as part of the general freedom of association (Right of 
Association Law of 1870, Anti-terrorism Act of 1930). According to 
article 11 of the 1867 Staatsgrundgesetz ("Basic Law of the State"), 
which is part of the Austrian constitution, and article 12 of the 
European Convention on Human Rights everyone has the right to peaceful 
assembly and association and to form labour unions.
