Kober, Leopold, b. Pfaffstaetten (Lower Austria), Sept. 21, 1883, 
d. Hallstatt (Upper Austria), Sept. 6, 1970, geologist. University 
professor in Vienna specialising in the study of nappes, explained 
mountain building as a result of the contraction of the earth. Author 
of more than 100 essays and 15 books.
