!!!Kolig, Anton
b. Novy Jičín, Czech Republic (then Neutitschein), July 1, 1886,
d. Noetsch (Carinthia), May 17, 1950, painter; grandfather of
Cornelius Kolig. 1928-1943 taught at Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts.
Founded the Noetscher Kreis and developed a monumental style of
painting characterized by strong colours. Most of his work was
destroyed in a bomb attack in December 1944.

Frescoes in the Crematorium Vienna, 1925; Grosser Spiegel-Akt,
1926; 4 tapestries (1925) and a large mosaic (1927) for the Salzburg
Festspielhaus; frescoes at the Landhaus Klagenfurt, 1930 (destroyed by
the National Socialists); Grosse Pietà, 1943-1948.
