Communication and Information Engineering: The broad spectrum of 
communication and information engineering in Austria ranges from the 
simple telephone through digital private branch exchanges to the 
planning and realisation of complete telephone switchboard equipment. 
Computer-controlled digital networks facilitate increasingly new and 
more economical forms of telecommunications and data processing. In 
addition to the field of telecommunications, which comprises more than 
two thirds of the communication and information engineering sector, 
products from the field of radio technology as well as equipment for 
railway security and signal equipment are of particular importance. 
Microphones and broadcasting equipment made in Austria have been used 
internationally in recording studios, television studios, and film 
studios for decades. Complete through-connecting sound systems and 
control consoles for radio and television stations, transmission and 
reporting vans, studio equipment, and interpreting and conference 
equipment are developed and produced in Austria.
