Kopitar, Bartholomaeus, b. Repnje (Croatia), Aug. 23, 1780), 
d. Vienna, Aug. 11, 1844. Studied Slavonic languages, university 
professor and head librarian at the University of Vienna, pioneered 
the study of Slavonic languages in Austria.
