bishop of Innsbruck. Studied 1960-68 at the Pontificio Ateneo 
Salesiano in Turin and Rome; taught dogmatics in Rome 1968-78; 
Professor at the Universitas Pontifica Salesiana in Rome 1978-80, 
Professor of  Dogmatics at Benediktbeuren, Germany, 1980-97.
