!!!Kratky-Baschik, Anton

b. Koslany (Czech Republic), Jan. 11, 1810, 
d. Vienna, Aug. 28, 1889, magician, showman. Invented musical 
instruments. Began as a musician and started his career as a magician 
in 1850. After a long tour, taking in England and the USA, he returned 
to Vienna in 1863 and in 1864 opened a magic theatre at the Prater 
fairground; from 1865 he went on lengthy trips throughout the 
monarchy, returning to Vienna in 1868. The second theatre that he 
established at the Prater was later carried on by his nephew Mathias 
K. and then by Ottokar Fischer until 1911.
