Krems Chemie AG, company for the production of chemicals in Krems an 
der Donau, founded in 1948 as a GmbH (Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter 
Haftung), changed into an AG (Aktiengesellschaft) in 1989. Since 1997 
majority ownership by the Finnish Neste Oy. Divisions: synthetic 
resin, natural resin, services for the chemistry and technology 
sectors, special products, polyester. Holder of shares in companies in 
Hungary, Poland, Russia and Turkey. In 1997 group turnover was 2.1 
billion ATS, exports amounted to 78% and the number of employees was 
632.
