Krinzinger, Friedrich, b. Sipbachzell (Upper Austria), 
Aug. 6, 1940, archaeologist. Studied in Innsbruck and Vienna. 
Since 1971 involved in excavations in Elea in southern Italy, since 
1983 head of excavations. Since 1989 university professor in Vienna; 
since 1994 head of archaeological research at the Austrian Academy of 
Sciences and director of the  Oesterreichisches Archaeologisches 
Institut; since 1998 head of excavations in Ephesos.
