Kris, Ernst, b. Vienna, April 26, 1900, d. New York (USA), 
Feb. 27, 1957, art historian and psychoanalyst. Studied art history 
and classical archeology, worked at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in 
Vienna from 1922. Acquainted with S.  Freud, training analysis under 
H.  Deutsch, from 1930 member of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Association 
(a group of psychoanalysts around S. Freud), together with R. Waelder 
editor-in-chief of the psychoanalytic magazine "Imago". Emigrated to 
London, 1938; lived in New York from 1940, child psychologist at Yale 
University from 1951.
