Kromer, Karl, b. Vienna, Aug. 3, 1924, prehistorian. 1958-1967 
head of the prehistory department of the Vienna Museum of Natural 
History, 1967-1986 university professor of Prehistory and Early 
History in Innsbruck, since 1986 member of the Prehistory Commission 
of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
