Krumau am Kamp, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Krems an
der Donau, alt. 370 m, pop. 827, area 26.84 km%%sup 2/%,
situated in the Kamp Valley near the Thurnberg reservoir. -Krumau-Kamp
storage power station (16,2 MW, built in 1953), sports and
leisure-time facilities. -City layout from the 13%%sup th/% century;
parish church (rebuilt from 1782-1789), with parts from the Middle
Ages, tower (1801); castle (first documented mention in 1084,
reconstructed 1977-1980), tabernacle pier (around 1700). The cadastral
district of Idolsberg (alt. 430 m, first documented mention in 1164)
is situated on a forested plateau above the River Kamp east of the
Thurnberg reservoir, parish church (around 1600) with Baroque eastern
tower, neo-Gothic high altar and Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary
(around 1500); castle (16%%sup th/% /17%%sup th/% century).
