d. Vienna, Oct. 2, 1936, historian, archaeologist and numismatist. 
From 1896 University Professor in Graz, from 1897 in Vienna; 1897-1910 
custodian and 1910-25 director of the ''Muenzkabinett'' collection of 
coins in Vienna; 1916-29 Full Professor of Roman Archaeology and 
Epigraphy in Vienna; outstanding authority on Antiquity, gained 
important insights into the history of Vienna in the Roman era.
