Kugy, Julius, b. Gorizia (Italy), July 19, 1858, d. Trieste 
(Italy), Feb. 5, 1944; merchant, mountaineer and writer of Alpine 
literature and publications. Numerous first ascents and new routes, 
opened up the Julian Alps, during World War I expert on the Alps.
