!!!Kundmann, Carl

Kundmann, Carl, b. Vienna, June 15, 1838, d. Vienna, June 9, 
1919, sculptor. From 1872 taught at the Vienna Academy, participated 
in the competition for the Maria Theresia monument (won by C. von  
Zumbusch). In Vienna he created sculptures for e.g. the Arsenal, the 
Town Hall, the Burgtheater, the Neue Hofburg Palace, the Court 
Museums. His main works include the Pallas Athene fountain in front of 
the Parliament (1898-1902) and the Tegetthoff monument at Vienna 
Praterstern (1886). K. used a moderate style of sculpting and is one 
of the main representatives of Vienna Ringstrasse sculpture.
