b. Vienna, May 20, 1909, 
d. Vienna, Sept. 8, 1995, Kammersaenger (bass-baritone). From 1940 
member of the Vienna State Opera, where he was part of the legendary 
Mozart ensemble of the post-war period, singing roles such as 
Papageno, Leporello, Figaro etc. Also sang in Bayreuth, Salzburg, 
London and New York. Numerous guest performances, also known for his 
interpretations of Viennese folk songs.
