1,179 m, pop. 3,493, area 196.69 km%%sup 2/%, bi-seasonal 
tourism (539,824 overnight stays) at the mouth of Fischbach stream 
(Sulztal valley), main municipality of Oetztal valley, formerly a spa 
(today trial drillings aimed at re-activating the spring). - Oetztal 
open-air museum (1968), sports centre. Wood processing, granite 
extraction. - Late Gothic parish church with Baroque alterations 
(first documentary mention in 1303, rebuilt in 1518 and in 1690) with 
a huge Gothic northern tower, mural and vaults paintings (around 1690 
and 1852), high altar (around 1800); Trinity Church (1661-1666) on the 
Kropfbuehel; Baroque chapels in the vicinity.
