b. Vienna, March 4, 1940, after law studies turned to politics (SPOe; 
Austrian Social Democratic Party). From 1981 to 1983, 1994 and 
1995-1999 member of the Nationalrat, 1977 to 1985 Staatssekretaer in 
the Federal Chancellery, 1985 to 1987 Minister without portfolio in 
the Federal Chancellery, 1987 to 1989 Minister for Health and Public 
Services, 1989 to 1995 Minister for Internal Affairs. Since 1988 
President of the ASKOe (General Austrian Sports Club) and since 1995 
President of the Vienna Federal Sports Organization.
