!!!Lambeck Lambeccius, Peter

Lambeck (Lambeccius), Peter, b. Hamburg (Germany), April 13, 
1628, d. Vienna, April 4, 1680, historian. Converted to 
Catholicism, 1663 director of the Vienna Court Library, which he 
reorganised (established a catalogue) and enlarged with his private 
collection (about 3,000 vols.). After looking through Ambras library, 
was commissioned by Emperor Leopold I to transfer another 2,000 vols. 
to Vienna. Wrote first chronological history of literature, 1659.
