Lamprechtshausen, province of Salzburg, municipality, alt. 460 m, 
pop. 2,886 (1981: 2,403), area 31.73 km%%sup 2/%, situated west 
of Lake Obertrum close to the border with Upper Austria and Bavaria. - 
Office of the agricultural authority of the provincial government of 
Salzburg, St. Felix mud-bath, thermal power station operated with 
chopped wood; industries: automation technology, heat technology, 
building industry. - Parish church (1905) with a choir in the late 
Gothic style and a Romanesque east tower, neo-Gothic high altar 
(1910); Gothic church with frescoes in St. Alban. The melody of 
"Silent night, holy night" was written in Arnsdorf (Niederarnsdorf and 
Oberarnsdorf) by F. Gruber; "Maria im Moesel" pilgrimage church (first 
documentary mention in 790, nave and choir built from 1507 until 1520) 
with Baroque interior. Franz-Xaver Gruber museum is situated in the 
old school building (1771) beside the church.
