b. Vienna, March 1, 1932, manager of cultural associations and events. 
Studied piano in Vienna after 1945 and chemistry in Paris from 1949 
(final examination 1956 in New York); worked first in the family 
export business, from 1964 member of the management committee of the 
Vienna Konzerthausgesellschaft (concert hall society, 1974 
vice-president, 1977-1983 secretary-general), 1984-1988 art director 
of the EC Youth Orchestra. Founded the G. Mahler Youth Orchestra for 
talented young Austrian and Eastern European musicians (1987); from 
1989 on the management committee of the  Salzburg Festival, 1991-2001 
its manager of business and organization.
