!!!Landrecht

Landrecht, was the law which was in force in a given province or
region in the Middle Ages. The development from the Bavarian standard
law to a separate Landrecht was decisive for the establishment of the
Austrian provinces. The Austrian Landrecht emerged during the
Babenberg era and was documented around 1278 during the reign of King
Rudolf I and in 1298 during the reign of Albrecht I. The
Landrecht of Styria was based on customary law, it was probably
written during the 2%%sup nd/% half of the 14%%sup th/% century and
was valid in Carinthia as well. The Landrecht of Tirol emerged towards
the end of the 13%%sup th/% century. In Salzburg, Archbishop
Friedrich III summed up the Landrecht in a Landesordnung in
1328.
