Langbein, Hermann, b. Vienna, May 18, 1912, d. Vienna, Oct. 
25, 1995, journalist and resistance fighter against National 
Socialism. Fled from Austria after the Anschluss (1938) and fought on 
the Republican side in the Spanish civil war. 1941 arrested in France 
by Nazis, until 1945 in a number of concentration camps (incl. Dachau, 
Auschwitz). After 1945 important function as a journalist and lecturer 
on Nazi atrocities.
