Langer, Anton, b. Vienna, Jan. 12, 1824, d. Vienna, Dec. 7, 
1879, novelist, lyric poet, journalist, translator and dramatist. 
Wrote over 120 popular plays and many well-known novels "Daemon 
Brandwein", 1863). Founded the "Arena-Theater" in the Hernals district 
of Vienna, wrote the revolutionary song "Barrikadenlied" (1948); 
1850-1879 edited the satirical and popular weekly paper 
"Constitutioneller Hans-Joergel"; wrote over 100 novels, over 120 
plays, translated about 150 French novels.
