Lechner, Hans, b. Graz (Styria), July 16, 1913, d. Salzburg, 
June 10, 1994, agrarian economist, studied law; politician (OeVP, 
Austrian People´s Party). 1945-1959 civil servant in the 
Salzburg provincial government, 1959-1961 member of the provincial 
government and 1961-1977 provincial governor of Salzburg. In the 1960s 
L. belonged to the OeVP reform group; after 1970 he defended the 
practice of assigning public officers according to party obligations 
and advocated an all-party government.
