b. Vienna, Nov. 7, 1863, 
d. Vienna, March 14, 1919, painter, graphic artist, illustrator and 
craftsman. Studied at the Academy in Vienna under C.  Griepenkerl and 
in Munich; founding member of the  Hagenbund artists' association and 
1900-1903 head of design at the Vienna Hofoper. Designed interiors, 
decorations for festive occasions, furniture, stage sets, and posters.
