Lehmann, Lotte, b. Perleberg (Germany), Feb. 27, 1888, 
d. Santa Barbara (USA), Aug. 26, 1976soprano, Kammersaengerin*. 
1916-1938 highly popular artist at the Vienna State Opera (esp. as an 
interpreter of Strauss); sang from 1924 also at Covent Garden, from 
1938 at the New York Metropolitan Opera. Also renowned for her lieder 
interpretations; resigned from the stage in 1951. Grave of honour at 
the Zentralfriedhof cemetery, Vienna.
