!!!Lehmden, Anton

Lehmden, Anton, b. Nitra (Slovakia), Jan. 2, 1929, painter and 
graphic artist, eminent exponent of the  Vienna School of Fantastic 
Realism . Came to Vienna in 1945, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts 
in Vienna under A. P.  Guetersloh, participated in exhibitions of 
the Vienna  Art-Club from 1948 and was soon able to present his 
paintings at international exhibitions as well. 1962/63 teacher in 
Istanbul. 1971-1997 teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 
his technique L. followed old masters like P. Breugel and A.  
Altdorfer. War scenes, natural catastrophes and landscapes are his 
most frequent subjects. 1966 L. bought the Renaissance castle of 
Deutschkreutz (Burgenland) and has since devoted himself to its 
restauration.
