d. Vienna, Nov. 17, 1986, physician and politician (SPOe, Austrian 
Social Democratic Party). 1961-1971 Head of the Sophienspital 
(hospital in Vienna), 1971-1979 Minister of Health and the 
Environment. Introduced the "Mutter-Kind-Pass" recording the health of 
the mother and child, which drastically reduced the child mortality 
rate.
