b. Vienna, Jan. 22, 1797, 
d. near Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Dec. 11, 1826, daughter from the 
second marriage of Emperor  Franz II (I); Nov. 6, 1817 married Dom 
Pedro, Crown Prince of Portugal and heir apparent to the United 
Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarbia; made an important 
contribution to the foundation of an independent Empire of Brazil; 
from 1829 the Leopoldine Foundation supported the Catholic mission in 
America.
