Lermoos, Tirol, municipality in the district of Reutte, alt. 
994 m, pop. 937, area 56.44 km%%sup 2/%, ski resort (473,097 
overnight stays) on the upper River Loisach at the western foot of the 
Wettersteingebirge Mountains in the Ausserfern region. Municipality 
includes Ehrwald and Biberwier; "Tirolean Zugspitz Mountain snow 
arena". Between Lermoos and Ehrwald, former marshlands "Lermooser 
Moos". - Baroque parish church (1751-1753), with originally Gothic 
north tower, rococo design, frescos (1753/54) by G. Gru, high 
altar (1780), tomb chapel under chancel with carved Passion figures, 
oldest bell of northern Tirol (1411); Bichl Church commemorating the 
plague (around 1680); Felsenheim estate (1727); former Dietrich 
estate. In the vicinity, Lakes Mittersee, Blindsee and Weissensee and 
Loisach springs.
