b. Lancut (Poland), June 22, 1830, 
d. Dresden (Germany), Nov. 14, 1915, pianist and piano teacher, 
great-uncle of Josef Ludwig  Leschetizky. From 1840 in Vienna, studied 
under C.  Czerny and S.  Sechter; one of the most important 
representatives of the Vienna piano school; founded the Russian 
pianist school (students included A. Schnabl, I. Paderewski, E. Ney, 
M. Hambourg, I. Friedmann.
