b. Hartberg (Styria), May 22, 1911, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 28, 1986, medical historian, married to Albin  Lesky. 
From 1957 professor at the University of Vienna, head of the Institute 
for the History of Medicine at the University of Vienna. Gained 
acclaim for her depiction of medical practices and physicians in the 
19th century.
