d. Vienna, May 8, 1944, journalist, social-democratic politician. 
1895-1934 foreign and military policy editor of the "Arbeiterzeitung" 
newspaper, 1911-1918 member of the Abgeordnetenhaus (House of 
Deputies/Austrian parliament), 1918-1919 member of the Provisional 
National Assembly, 1919-1920 member of the Constituent National 
Assembly, 1920-1934 member of the Nationalrat. Belonged to the right 
wing of the Sozial-demokratische Arbeiterpartei (Social Democratic 
Labour Party).
