b. Opava, Czechoslovakia (then Troppau), Feb. 6, 1937, TV and film 
director. The combination of black-and-white and colour film and 
Kindler's camera technique in his film "Moos auf den Steinen" (1968) 
marked the beginning of an important, innovative trend in Austrian 
filmmaking. His work for television and film included "Schatten und 
Licht" (1977, director) and "Giulia Super" (1993, producer); also did 
theatre work.
