b. Duchcov, Czech Republic (then Dux), Oct. 5, 1892, 
d. Vienna, April 12, 1961, professional soldier and military diplomat. 
1930 Adjutant to the Minister of the Army. C.  Vaugoin, 1933-1938 
Military attache in Rome, closely associated with B. Mussolini, 
greatly influenced Austria's pro-Italian policy. Worked in the 
resistance movement O5 which had been formed in Nov. 1944. After 1950 
participated in the recruitment of the Austrian rural police forces, 
1955 head of the National Defence Office and made an important 
contribution to the reconstruction of the Austrian army up to 1958.
