Liefering, province of Salzburg, north of the city of Salzburg with 
provincial house of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (country 
estate from the 17%%sup th/%  century, since 1889 mission house, later 
renovated), with "mission museum" (South Sea ethnological exhibits) 
founded in 1904. Late Gothic church built around Romanesque hall 
(probably 1%%sup st/%  half of 12%%sup th/%  century), prior building 
first documented in 790 (a small square hall from the 8%%sup th/%  
century was excavated in 1979); consecrated in 1516, renovated in 
1691; along the north wall of the nave 8 panel paintings (around 1470) 
of late Gothic high altar. Rich farmstead, documented mention 1463, 
present building probably from the beginning of the 17%%sup th/%  
century.
