b. Vienna, Nov. 22, 1864, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 9, 1918, painter and graphic artist. Studied at the 
Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with C.  Griepenkerl, in Munich and in 
Paris. Co-founder of the Vienna  Secession, left the group together 
with the artists around Klimt in 1905. Painted in the Impressionist 
vein.
