b. Roudnice nad Labem, Czech Republic (then Raudnitz), Jan. 13, 1609, 
d. Roudnice nad Labem, April 22, 1677, statesman. 1636 Imperial 
War Councillor, 1647 Field Marshal General. From 1646 onwards Duke of 
Sagan, was confidant of Emperor Leopold I and had great influence. 
1669 to 1874 Director of the Cabinet, collaborated behind the 
emperor's back with France (in 1671 concluded a treaty on neutrality 
disadvantageous to Austria), which occasioned his fall.
