b. Kanischa-Jahring (Kaniža-Jarenina, Slovenia), July 22, 1800,
d. Graz, Styria, Aug. 24, 1864, musician and theosophical
writer. Initially teacher, then embarked on a promising career as a
musician (until 1840); subsequently had a religious experience which
caused him to espouse a "New Revelation", the teachings of which were
propounded and disseminated by the New Salem Society and the
Jakob-Lorber-Gesellschaft founded in 1921 at Bietigheim, Germany, in
its journal "Das Wort".
